My fellow blogger Mandy, the Creator of one of my favorite blogs http://nestledinnostalgia.blogspot.com, gave me a "Blogger Award" and a list of unique questions to answer about myself and my blog.
I have never really ever "won" any awards in my life, though I did get honorable mention in 4th grade for my poster I made for Fire Prevention Week. Which consisted of a woman in bed who fell asleep smoking a cigarette, as she lay in flames.
Anywho, I've been pretty busy with all sorts of useless shit I have to do, so I decided to answer one question at a time.
The first question she asked me was
1. If you could be any character in a film, who would you be and why?
I had to think long and hard about this... there were many, many options, some just for little things like Winona Ryder's character in Reality Bites because she got to drink and smoke in bars and had two guys lusting after her. Thelma in Thelma & Louise because she got to fuck a really cute Brad Pitt... Vince Vaughn in "Swingers" because he was so money.. you get the drift.
And then I got to thinking about a sleepless night, and me for some reason turning to the IFC channel and watching the film "Even Cowgirls Get The Blues".
It was so far fetched, weird, bad at some points, and different I couldn't stop watching it. It follows Sissy played by Uma Thurman who was born with unnaturally large thumbs, which she puts to good use by hitchhiking her way everywhere.
Sissy gets sent to the Rubber Rose to shoot a commercial for a feminine hygiene spray, where a bunch of cowgirls also reside. Which is also where she meets the infamous character Bonanza Jellybean. A bad ass cowgirl played by Rain Phoenix, whom Sissy eventually has a romantic relationship with.
Bonanza Jellybean is a fucking awesome name first off, second she was a cowgirl with a horse, a gun and took control. Bonanza was the leader. She was stunning in a unique way, with a fashion sense with her cowboy hat, boots, big belt buckle and spurs. She reminded me of tales of the old west with women like Calamity Jane and Belle Starr, women who dared to be different, and show the men that they could play just as hard if not harder.
Bonanza helped organize a takeover of the ranch from the evil "countess". All in all most people haven't even seen the movie and the ones who have call it horrible. True its not that great, but its not that bad either. So the the answer to the question would be Bonanza Jellybean!!
I guess deep down I've always had a secret desire to be a cowgirl in the west, riding around on my horse and taking no shit and just a being bad ass mother fucker. Maybe one day I just might...
